Cross train day.....

Well, no running today.  Today was a cross training day.  I did weights for about 30 minutes and also rode the exercise bike for another 30 minutes for 8.7 miles.  My legs are feeling pretty good after that.  It's nice to break up the running a little.

-------------------------

My hope is to get my road bike ready for use outside soon.  I probably should have done it when it was colder out so that I was ready.  My biggest issue is riding in the dark.  Running I have down but riding a bike is another story.  What do you do when you need to ride and it's still dark outside?  Do you use a light on the bike, headlamp?  Do you not do it?  My only cross train day is on Monday so that means riding before work.  Also, what kind of helmet do you have?  What's good?  I have not been on my road bike since college so it's been over 20 years.  I'm pretty sure you saw my bike but here it is hanging in the garage just waiting for me to get it down.

It's an old Panasonic bike.  Did you even know that Panasonic made bikes?  Anyway....I need some new tires for it but I already have clipless pedals so that will help me.  As soon as I get new tires and a checkup from the bike store I should be good to go.

If you are interested in trying some GU brew, go leave a comment on my 6/1 post.  I'm having a contest that will end this week.  Thanks to GU!!  Good luck!!!!

Have a great day and......Keep Running!!!!!

  1. I don't think I've ever biked in the dark. Then again, my bike has been sitting in my garage with flat tires for the past year or so, so who am I to talk?

  2. Panasonic made bikes? Who knew. There is this guy riding his bike that scares the living crap out of me on my dark early morning runs. Mostly because I do not expect any one else out there. He has a light on the front and a blinking red light on the back....and reflective clothing.

  3. Eeek - be careful in the dark. I know you probably don't have a ton of options if you have to get our early. Headlamps work, but make sure you get a flashing light for the back of your bike (so cars can see you ) and maybe even a front mount light so that it lights up the road more than the helmet light.

It is great cross training though! :)

  5. I need to bike more. Great for the legs, but bores me to death.
