Today's workout

Today I had to run on the treadmill because it was cold and rainy out.  I can deal with the rain and I can deal with the cold but not both.  Tomorrow they are saying snow flurries so that would be ok.  Today's workout called for a five mile run.  For some reason, it always seems like the treadmill is much harder than running outside.  I also did the foam roller today which I do always before and after a run.  Here I am getting on the treadmill:

And this is me running on the treadmill.  I'm still trying to figure out how to take a clear picture while running but this is what I got:

Also here I am using the foam roller:

At least I have a smile on my face!  It helps keep my knee from hurting when I'm running and has been an excellent exercise.  I do 100 reps on each leg before and after my run.  If you ever get one, it hurts using it in the beginning but after you are used to it, you will love using it.

As I said, not too exciting.

Have a great day.....Keep running!!!

Bright Lights

Well tonight I went to the Rochester Michigan Bright Lights Show.  Basically, it's millions of lights that are strung up on all the buildings in Downtown Rochester.  There was a huge crowd this year since the weather was in the 40's and no rain.  Here's a few pictures I took:

We were down there volunteering for the Salvation Army doing bell ringing.  I have done this for the past four years and it's a fun time and helps out a great cause.  Here's a picture of the next crew that took over for me:

Have a great night and.....Keep running!

Crosstraining Day!

Today was a crosstraining day.  For me this means working out on the Bowflex machine and also working out on the Schwinn exercise bike.  I do the following workout on the Bowflex:

Bench  Press, 2 sets of 20 at 160 pounds
Narrow Pulldown, 2 sets of 20 at 160 pounds
Leg extension, 2 sets of 20 at 160 pounds
Crossover High Rear Delts, 2 sets of 20 at 120 pounds
Standing Hip extension, 2 sets of 20 at 120 pounds
Low Back extension, 2 sets of 20 at 120 pounds
Tricep PD, 2 sets of 20 at 100 pounds
Biceps, 2 sets of 20 at 110 pounds
Ab's, 3 sets of 20 at 180 pounds

This seems to give me a good overall workout.  I always to the weights before the bike because I seem to get too drained from the bike to have an effective strength workout after.  I also always use the foam roller before and after the bike along with stretching after everything.  Here are a few pictures of what I'm using.

The Bowflex:

Here a picture of the bike as well:

The foam roller:  It has really helped keep my IT Band working well(will explain in a later post):

Have a good day everyone - keep running!

Ok, so this is the first post for my new blog.  What do I say, I don't know but I'm sure I'll think of some things as the days go by.  For now, I'm just using this first post to test out the blog software and get used to what I'm doing.  More to follow.....keep running!
