Crazy heat again

Well I did my five miles as scheduled but, boy, were they tough ones.  My temperature gauge showed 80 degrees as I was walking out the door.  Actual temp was 75 degrees????!!! at 5:30 in the morning?  Holy crap.

I had planned to do some repeats.  Can't say that I have done much in the way of speed work during my marathon training but repeats is what was called for today.  I failed miserably given the hot weather and I also did my first mile after warmup way too fast.

I was thinking to myself....these repeats sure seem hard.  I told myself I'd keep a pace of 8:20.  Oops, no wonder I was so tired after the second mile.  Got a little slower after that and all downhill from there.   I was sweating like crazy.  I do sweat during my runs but I really start sweating after I stop running when I'm stretching.

I glad tomorrow is back to a easy day!

Question of the day?  10 degrees or 80 degrees?  Which would you prefer?

Have a great day and......Keep Running!!!!!!!

  1. 10 or 80? Depends on the wind.

  2. I'll take the 10 degrees....at least that's what I'm saying for now until I can adjust better to the heat. Way to get out there!

  3. It's hot and humid here as well. I'd think I'd take 80 over 10, but as long as it's not humid!! Have a great day!

  4. 10 with no wind. lol. Last year we didn't get this type of heat til sometime in July. So June is not a good sign for the summer.

  5. If there's no humidity, I'll take 80, otherwise 10.

  6. Ouch! That is some warm weather early in the morning. Great job on getting out there and sweating through it.

I can't remember, what is your next event?

  7. 10 all the way. Heck, -5 even. I do not know how our warm climate friends do it. I wimped out and ran on the treadmill today.

  8. 10 degrees for me. You are awesome to do repeats in the heat. I can hardly stand running on my treadmill when it's 70+ degrees in my house.

  10. Although I think it's harder, I would much rather be hot than cold. I'm usually in the minority for this one though...
