The Klingg review

A few weeks ago I received a Klingg for review.  Never heard of it?  Here's what I was sent:
 The Klingg
Simple to use and you can store your earbuds when not in use
The Klingg is a very simple item for running/working out.  As I've always said in the past, the best ideas are the simplest ones.  The Klingg is a small magnetic device used to hold the cables of your headphones close to you.  This way your headphones will not pull out of your ears.  Now I have to be honest here, I was not sure it was something I really even needed and/or wanted to add to my running arsenal.  Even after several runs with it, it still wasn't something that I thought was that beneficial but let me explain more....

Here's a close up of how it works.  It's two pieces.  Inside is a strong magnet(Neodymium per the company) so that you can attach it to your clothing.
Strong magnet

Front and back pieces works through clothing
You first slip in the cable through the cord holder and then the back piece goes inside your shirt, jacket, etc.  You can see how it looks while attached on my chest below.
As you can see, it holds the cord nicely in place.  The key to this is that it helps the cord from bouncing around, and therefore, your earphones remain in your ears.

While I mentioned I didn't like using it the first few runs, for me, the problem was where I put it.  When I ran with it directly in the center of my chest, it tended to bounce around quite a bit while running.  All I did was get frustrated with it.  Of course, the genius that I am, I didn't think to move it around and try it in a different spot. Doh!

For the rest of my runs, I moved it over about 3 inches to the left on my chest.  Wow!  It made a huge difference when I placed it there.  I couldn't feel it move and it kept my earphone in my ears.  Most of my running has been pretty hot and humid runs and the Klingg is weather resistant(and sweat resistant) and works just fine.  I ran with it in the rain once as well with no issues at all - although, my iPod does not always agree with rain.

Here's a look of the Klingg next to my iPod shuffle so you get an idea the size of it.  It's quite small but the magnets are very powerful.
Only 1 oz. and small as the iPod shuffle(works with other music headphones as well)
I also love that it's made with recyclable materials.  I'm all for helping companies that help the planet.  As a bonus, it's made in the USA!

There is one issue a small portion of the runners might need to be concerned with and that is if you have a pacemaker(due to the magnets)  My suggestion would be to talk with your doctor before trying it.

For everyone else, I think it's something that you will like if you like running with music - as I do - when I'm training.  It comes in eight great colors and sells for $19.95.  Right now on their website, they are offering, buy 2, get one free until 7/18.
