Two left to fill my void....

Rest day on the schedule today.  It's going to be a couple days before I feel like running.  Ha!

----------------

As you all know, I love getting a medal at a race.  Who doesn't?  I like it not just for the medal itself but also for the memory it keeps alive each time I see it.  I remember the misting rain coming down for my first marathon, Bayshore Marathon, in Traverse City and how I was so nervous to run the distance.  I remember the pure joy I felt when I crossed the finish line in Detroit under four hours for my first time.  I remember the pure beauty of the rising sun and the downtown Cincinnati skyline as I ran across the bridge from Kentucky.  All memories I'll treasure forever.  All memories that keep me training for another marathon.

Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!

  4. How is running the Bayshore full with it being an out an back? Is it frustrating running one way and back the other for that long, or is the scenery so nice you don't seem to mind?

I planned on doing the half there this year, but it was filled up that first day when I tried in the afternoon, and I couldn't get the site to load in the morning. I thought about the full, but I thought that would be pressing my luck.

    1. I did not think it was bad. Obviously, it's tougher the way back so you are concentrating more about running than the scenery.

  5. I agree medals, pictures, t-shirts and other running stuff are good memories of our running "career".
What a pity I have lost 11 years of memories when i changed house.

  6. You'll have that rack overflowing in not too long!

Seriously, good job at F.P. That big hill makes the graph scale so all the little bumps don't show up! And bumps in the last 6 miles are Not Wanted ;)

Temps not so great either. All in all a darn good race considering. On to the next! 8)

  7. I am the rarity in that I don't get excited by medals. I've been trying to figure out why. It's not because everyone gets the same one that finishes, because I love the shirts and I can feel the memories everytime I put them on. I cherish them, but the medals are just scattered about.

    1. Mark - you need an Allied Medal Display. Look them up. I did a review on them. Great way to show off the medals. Mine says Detroit Runner on it.

    2. Yes, I saw your review, and have tried to win one in the past. I do think that would change my outlook if I could hang them up.

  9. I definitely enjoy race medals! All of mine are hanging on my wall in my room with the bibs attached. Each one has a memory for me as well. I am looking to add my first marathon medal to the wall in just 10 days!
