PR....beard???

5 miles on the schedule today....done!  Ha!  Still felt a little tight from my race Sunday but overall pretty strong run.

-----------------

Ok, those of you that still have word verification on!  Please! Please! Please! Turn it off.  Google obviously did not think is that one word verification was frustrating enough so now they have added two word verification....and they are not short words.  Please review.  It will help your readers.  Spam is very unlikely.  Really...

-----------------

5 weeks to go until my next race.  It's the Glass City half marathon.  I can't wait to run this event.  The half marathon distance still remains my favorite distance.  Long enough for a challenge but short enough for no break in training needed.  It will be my first time down there.  Looks like a really great route plus you get to end in the stadium at Toledo University.  I've never finished in a stadium but have finished on a track for a couple races.  Loads of fun!  The half is sold out but you can still run the marathon if interested in attending - still only $70 for the full.  Not a bad price.

I'm still thinking about doing a 50k next year(most likely trail) - I know, the race season just started and I'm already thinking about next year.  Any suggestions?  Favorite races?  I mean, how much worse can it be than the marathon?  Haha!
Preferably NOT like this elevation
Wild Idaho 50k.  Yikes!
-----------------

As you know, I PR'd in Sunday's race but I'm still figuring out how to break that 45 minute mark(No I'm not doing speed work on the track!).  I need to visit with Coach Dion and run up some mountains(or do the race above).  That will work!  Oh well, I won't have a chance to find out because I'm not expecting to run another 10k until October and it's a week after a marathon.  So that's it.  My PR will stand for the year.  Maybe I'll grow a PR beard like Jim over at 50after40.  I'm not sure my wife could stand it(or my work for that matter)

-----------------

Well I left it out of my race report but on Sunday, I saw a girl that finished the ShamRock N Roll race just about the same time as me.  Unfortunately(or fortunately) she puked pretty bad at the end of the race.  I felt bad for her but my thoughts were she left nothing on the table(literally - ha) and ended her race knowing she did everything possible to get her time.  I say congratulations.  Some say gross.  What do you say?

Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!

  1. The PR beard is never a good idea - trust me :)

And I HATE the new word verification. You are right - one word was bad enough, now it's just awful!

    1. Oh, no. I don't mind speed but not in circles. Haha!

  3. I would highly suggest Dances with Dirt Hell 50K in September!! So much fun! When I ran it last year, I was saying how I wanted to do the DWD 50 miler before we even crossed the finish line of the 50K!! I have a minor set back so I won't be able to run it this year, but it's definitely on my schedule for 2013!

That girl left it all out there. Good for her!

I hate the word verification also!

    1. Ha. It would take me until October to grow a decent beard anyway.

  6. Wouldn't do the PR Beard, but I never shave on race day. It's mostly 'cause my neck stings with sweat when it is freshly shaven, but it is now also tradition.

    1. Me too Josh - never on race day. Maybe not so much tradition but that I'm lazy in the morning of the race. Haha!

  7. I sport a beard just about all winter long... and no PRs. But I shaved for Sunday's race (cause it was suppose to be a warm) and I PR'ed.... go figure.

No shame in throwing up. It's part of the game!

  8. Puking is hard core. I'd give her a thumbs up!

A note on word verification: So, on my mom blog, which is on Blogger, I took my word verification off and then got a disturbing comment about me and my husband's relationship. It pissed my husband off and he responded to whomever it was via the comment section. The next morning I had another comment from this anonymous person and it was horrible, disgusting and, to be honest, a little scary. I doubt we know this person, but the fact that they came back and left another comment was freaky. I put word verification back on. My running blog is on WordPress, but I get quite a bit of spam comments on there so I had to turn comment moderation on. So annoying!

    1. Well I'm not sure how disturbing comments would stop given word verification but if you are getting spam, I can understand. There is some sick people in the world.
