One month reminder for Kona Run on June 8th!!!!

Can you believe it?  The time is near.  It's already time for the 11th annual Kona Run which will be held on June 8th.  The race consists of a 10 mile(which I'll be doing), a 10k, a 5k and a one mile.  This is the second race in the Triple Crown Series so if you ran Kona's Sham Rock 'n' Roll race in March, make sure you enter this one to continue your qualification for the Triple Crown.  I know you want the medal.
The Triple Crown Medal!
Ok,  here are some details to the Kona Race this year.  Check that shirt and that medal out.  I love that race shirt.  It's the most unique race shirt I'll own and I love that Kona Running has, once again, gone above and beyond to stand out in the myriad of local races.  They have also designed a fantastic medal this year.

As it's always been in the past, the Start and parking will be at Northville Downs.  For those of you that have not run this race, it's one of the most unique race starts which begins with a lap around the race track.  Check it out:

This is no easy course either.  There will be hills!  They don't call it North"hill" for nothing!  Yes, it's challenging but it's not so hard you can't complete it.  You wouldn't want it to be easy, would you?  The 10 mile, 10k and 5k are all USATF certified courses and, of course, chip timed.
Here's a look at the courses(excluding the 1 mile):

It's also likely you will get a chance to see several local elite runners in the race as well.  Last year they had Clint Verran and Luke Humphrey battling it out.  There's sure to be more this year!

I've run the last three years of the Kona Run(formerly Solstice Run) 10 mile and it does not disappoint.  Here's the medal progression for each year.  They keep getting better and better.

The finish is in Ford Field in Northville as well which is a perfect place to finish.  They will have entertainment and a Luau Party with Hawaiian Dancers, a Steel Drum Band, DJ and a Rock Band.  Be sure to have your family meet you at the finish line to join in on the fun.  It's not far from the start.  They're going all out this year for the finish line party!  Kona always has some great finish line food and beverages as well.

So who's interested in joining me?  Who's already registered?  Now's the time to get registered if you aren't already!  Come join me in one of my favorite races of the year.  It's fun for the entire family.  I'll have a full, detailed race review after the race as well.

I will also be volunteering at packet pickup on the Friday before the race from 3-7pm at Northville Square Mall so please, say hello, if you see me there.  I look forward to meeting some of you and seeing others I've met.

Go to their website HERE to register, volunteer and learn more details.

Go to their Facebook page HERE to follow them.

  2. Larry has asked me to be a pacer again. I don't know yet which race I'm pacing.
    I see that the finish is apart from the start. How far away from parking is it? What is Northville Downs?
    I love the shirt!!

    1. Northville Downs is the race track where the start is. You park here as well and lot is huge. The finish is only a couple blocks away from the start so park at the start and walk back from the finish. You will love this race!
